Information

We look forward to welcoming you to the annual Med-Ren conference in July. Over 100 speakers from 21 countries across Europe, North America, Australasia and Asia will present papers and posters representing the best of recent research in medieval and renaissance music.

The conference will take place at Royal Holloway, a college of the University of London, located near Egham, a 40-minute train ride from central London. Accommodation and meals will be provided on the campus, as there are very few hotels or restaurants nearby. For travel directions, please see the Royal Holloway website.

Concert

The Brabant Ensemble ~ Penitence and Prophecy: Motets from Sixteenth-Century Europe

Monday, 5th July, evening

The Brabant Ensemble, directed by Stephen Rice, performs sacred music from 1530-70, including penitential motets by Nicolas Gombert, Jacobus Clemens non Papa, and Pierre de Manchicourt. The centrepiece of the programme will be the cycle Prophetiae Sibyllarum by Orlandus Lassus.

The conference will begin around 11.00am on Monday 5th July and finish around 1.00pm on Thursday 8th July.

The conference will include a gala dinner in the stunning surroundings of Royal Holloway's Picture Gallery, which houses a world-famous collection of Victorian art. For more details of the collection, click here.

Registration *NOW OPEN*

Accommodation and meals are provided on the campus at Royal Holloway. Non-residential registrations are possible, but please note that there are very few hotels and restaurants nearby, and Royal Holloway is a 40-minute train ride plus 20-minute walk away from central London.

There are two ways to register for the conference:

  • print out and complete the booking form, and return it by post with your cheque (in pounds sterling, drawn on a UK bank)
  • book online and pay with a credit or debit card through the Royal Holloway Online Store. Online prices include a card transaction fee.

Registration will close on 1st June 2010. Please book early to guarantee your choice of accommodation.

Cancellation Policy: The Med-Ren conference is not profit-making. There will be no refunds for cancellations made after 1st June 2010. Before that date, we will refund your payment if we can do so without incurring a loss.
